Newborn Session with Boys

This newborn session is filled with sweet little boys! Sharon is a wonderful returning client who mothers her boys so well! Her home is filled with lots of noise, trucks, cars and energy. Despite all this boy energy, Sharon somehow manages to create a beautiful, welcoming home for her family.

Rooms Used for the Session

You may think that you have to have a perfectly styled house to have an in-home newborn session, but that is not the case. I used only a handful of areas to get all the photos from this session. Because Sharon is a photographer as well, she knew all the best places to capture this newborn session with her boys. I photographed in a small corner in the living room, the master bedroom bed and in their office. However I could definitely have used just one or two of these spaces and shot the session there.

Anytime I come in a home and see a small distraction, I just move it to the side temporarily. It could be something that will distract from your final images. Don’t be offended by this! It could be a tissue box, the alarm clock on the nightstand, or a few toys in the living room. I’m sure there are more areas in your home that would photograph beautifully than what you think there are.

What is Needed for a Newborn Session

You don’t need a lot of outfits or props for a beautiful newborn session. Here we used one outfit on the baby for the first half of the session. Following that we put on a white onsie and swaddled on him for the last half of the shoot. Newborns love to be swaddled!! Basically invest in a simple, stretchy swaddle and you are set for what your baby needs to wear for photos.
