Newborn Darla | Lancaster Newborn Session

I had every intention of blogging this beautiful session this past spring during the shutdown, but somehow it just didn’t happen. So here I am posting these gorgeous photos right before this sweet little baby’s first birthday instead. Happy 1st Birthday, Darla Ann!

I asked this momma to share a short version of her story because I knew from photographing this family twice that this was a story worth sharing. Here is the short version in the words of Janelle:

Long story short, we’ve been married for 13+ years and for 10 of those years we tried to expand our family with children. For years we tried every fertility treatment you can think of with no results. It was very heart breaking journey. We felt in our spirits we were supposed to be parents, so you can imagine how confused we were when nothing was happening for so long. We finally decided to pursue adoption, and two years later we were standing in a hospital room welcoming Ava into the world through adoption.

When Ava turned one, I was feeling unmotivated and tired. I came to found out I was pregnant. Needless to say, we were shocked. Basically we had sort of come to terms with the fact that we may never experience bio children. I was not on any fertility medication either. I believe God was saying to us, “I open and close the womb.” Yes, He can use fertility medication but in our case He wanted us to only rely on His power and not man’s power.

What a powerful story! God always works on His timetable, not ours.
