When to Book Newborn Photos

As a new, soon-to-be mama you might be wondering when to book newborn photos. How soon is too soon to contact photographers for pricing and information? How far out do I have to book?

If you know what photographer you want to use, the sooner you contact them the better chance you have of getting on their schedule. Some photographers are booked months out. They don’t have space in their schedule for you the closer you get to your due date. I always love when mamas contact me just after they are out of the first trimester. The risk of preterm loss is greatly reduced at this point, but you still have time to get on my schedule.

I try to schedule newborn photos in the first two weeks of the baby’s life. So many tiny details change so quickly with newborns! I use your due date as a place holder on my calendar.

Use the time before your newborn arrives to find a dress you want to wear for the newborn session. Your body is going to have just done amazing, hard work in birth. You probably won’t fit in your pre-pregnancy dresses. I highly recommend a dress from Nothing Fits But! They are flattering and easy to nurse in during your session. I have two of these available in my client closet you can borrow if you book your session with me. You can contact me HERE to get the process started of booking your newborn photos.
