I’ve dreamt for years of attending a photography workshop geared towards Motherhood Photography. While visiting a friend in Washington, DC this spring I found out about the workshop The Kindred Path was planning and promoting. The Gather Community Workshop sounded amazing, and the idea of going with a friend sounded too good to be true! My friend, Jessica, booked a stay for several photographers to stay at the Quirk Hotel in Richmond. We couldn’t help but snap some fun shots of each other.
The Gather Community Workshop
The first ever Gather Community Workshop was held in Richmond, Virginia and focused on family photography. This event was planned by two amazing women who lead The Kindred Path Community online. Marie and Adrianne poured themselves into this whole day.
The morning of the event we packed up bright and early to head to the workshop. First we heard from two talented photographers on how they prep their clients for a session and then how they would handle the session when they got to the client’s home. We had one in-home shoot on location with a sweet family of five. In the afternoon we heard from another instructor on how to up level our business with heirloom products. Then it was off to the Historic Tuckahoe Plantation for a styled shoot with a beautiful family and updated headshots for all of us.

We took turns in groups going into a room to capture this sweet family and to watch one instructor show us how she leads and prompts a family during a session.

This shoot was a complete dream! The outfits, the children, the location and vision from the ladies at The Kindred Path made this an incredible opportunity to build our portfolio. We also got updated headshots at this location. Some of the images from this whole experience are from friends and from The Kindred Path.

The day ended with a delicious meal together at a local restaurant in downtown Richmond. I didn’t get home until the wee hours of the morning, but it was all worth it! Being around other women in the same industry spurs me on to bigger and greater dreams. It encouraged me in what I already know and gave me ideas of how to improve my offerings to you as my clients. I’m forever grateful to have attended The Gather Community Workshop!
