I put a call out on social media back in the summer for a maternity model for a dress I have in my client closet. I was blown away by the amount of mommas willing to model it for me! My vision for this session was a momma dressed in this blue dress by water. Blue Marsh Lake is a local body of water that has become a favorite location of mine. As I scouted around and dreamed, this Blue Marsh Lake Maternity Session was born.
Part of the reason I chose this family to model for me is because this momma is a NICU nurse. If you know my story, you know that NICU nurses hold a special place in my heart! My youngest son, Hunter, lived in the NICU for the first 3 months of his life. The doctors and nurses there gave him the best care possible! So it just felt right to give back in this way. My model, Hannah, also has three of the cutest boys and was expecting her first daughter at the time of this shoot. What a perfect season of her life to gift this session to her!
John and Hannah were so easy and wonderful to work with for the session. Their boys were real champs! I swear it was one of the hottest nights of the summer when we took these images! I also had to improvise on one location at the lake because my first choice wasn’t available. Then my light meter stopped working! I thought it needed new batteries that I forgot to bring along. Turns out it was too hot for my light meter. As soon as I got home in the AC, it started working again. Never the less, the images we captured that evening are beautiful.
