This past February I had the special honor to photograph one darling, sweet little Valentine baby. Josiah was born on Valentine’s Day, and I’m sure he will be the sweetest Valentine’s gift his family will ever receive.
His family was so welcoming as I arrived for this in-home newborn session. I should clarify here that I only do in-home sessions for newborns. I am inspired by and drawn to the sessions that are taken in a baby’s natural surroundings. There is something so moving and powerful about the photos of parents with their baby in their arms in their own home. Not only does this make everyone more relaxed for the session, it also helps to capture the sweet home you have made your own during that season of life.
I could tell this family was so proud to welcome their first son into their arms. From the way Mom and Dad loved and held him to the way Big Sister wanted to be right near him, you could tell they just couldn’t get enough of him.
Josiah was such a champ during the session as we captured moments of the whole family together, love from his big sister, some shots individually with his mom and dad, and also some shots of him by himself. I truly enjoyed the time I spent capturing images of just Josiah at the end of the session. He was so relaxed and easy to move into different positions. This relaxed, sleepy disposition is the reason I try to schedule all of my newborn sessions within the first two weeks after a baby is born. After that window of time, most babies are more alert and awake. They are less likely to cooperate for their session after they are older than two weeks.
Leon and Ruth Ann, it was truly an honor to capture this season of your life for you! You have beautiful children and I believe they will go far with all of your love and care. Congratulations again on your dear Valentine’s baby, Josiah!
