Creative Inspiration As A Photographer

A few weeks ago I took a trip to Washington, DC to visit my friend, Jessica of Jessica Burdge Photography, and gain some creative inspiration as a photographer. I came away so full and ready to tackle business things again. There’s just something about being around other creatives, who get the highs and lows of doing the same craft as you, that inspire you to be better and to do better. We laughed over lunch until I ended up crying. We swapped stories of sessions and struggles we’ve faced.

Adventures of a Creative

Jessica is the best hostess ever! She made a yummy lunch for me and shared some super practical SEO tips. We then headed to the Supreme Court and Library of Congress for headshots. We almost skipped this part since it was a rainy day in DC. I’m so glad we didn’t! Jessica and her husband own a small creamery in a market. She took me there to meet her husband and get ice cream. If you know me, you know that is a surefire way to my heart! Back at her home, we had more conversation and got ready to meet one of her friends at the sweetest French inspired restaurant. Primrose did not disappoint! I was the one disappointed when it was time to leave to drive back to PA. I didn’t even mind driving home in the rain since my heart was so full of inspiration!

Dress Tips

The dress I wore in my headshots was one I mentioned in one of my last blog posts about dresses for spring. The style of the dress worked well with the style and formality of the architecture in DC. It’s important to visualize how the dress you want to wear for your session will look the setting. Keep in mind also what you want to use the images for in the long run. I am always willing to help you decide if the dress or outfits you have chosen for a session will work well with your vision. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

Thank you, Jessica, for the wonderful day and for giving me so much creative inspiration! I can’t wait until our next adventure together!
